Autobiography of Alex Shields.
I'm an amateur composer currently living in Manhattan, NY.
I started my music life by taking a guitar class in high school. I joined a band with some of my school-mates and we sucked completely. That was when I first started composing music. The guitar class was circa 1987 and the band was in 1990.
At the same time, I was composing music on my computer at home which was a Tandy 1000HX. I started composing on the computer sometime in 1988.
So my first band broke up, I was in two other bands, and those broke up quickly too. No one except me had much enthusiasm, and I did most of the composition work. Actually, I did 99% of the composition work.
I quit trying to be in bands, and I was just composing music at home, playing my guitar with my drum machine, and recording that. Over time, my musical skill increased (in my opinion).
Circa 1994 or 1993, I quit composing entirely and quit playing guitar entirely.
Many years later, in 2008, I got my old Tandy songs to play on my current computer, and that rekindled my interest in composing. I downloaded some modern software for composing, and some more software for playing back my songs. And, that's that.
